Frequently Asked Questions

(Q) Which states are brand inspection states?

(A)  CO, ID, MT, ND, NV, UT, WA, and WY.

[ MT also requires you to get a travel permit ]  Your vet should be able to attain this for you.

(Q) How can I prepare my animal/s for their trip?

(A) There are many things YOU can do to make your animals trip more comfortable:

No rich grain or feed for 2-3 days prior to shipment - This is not being cruel, it's being safe.

Let us know of any problems or issues up front, it is much easier on us and your animal, if there are no surprises along the way.

Build up your animal's system: Mix powdered electrolytes (found at most feed stores) in with your animal's water for a couple of days prior to shipment, especially if he/ she is in for a long trip, or going to an area with a different climate.

Q)How often do you stop to check animals ?

(A)We stop within 30 minutes of pickup, then every 2 hours to check on animals. This usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes.  This means that transport takes a little longer but your animal is safe and with someone that is legal. We stop for 10 hrs every night.

(Q)  How long are coggins tests good for and how long does it take to get the
results back?

(A)  A Coggins Test, aka An Equine Infectious Anemia Report, is necessary for each
horse to be transported, however, babies not yet weaned from their mothers
do not require a coggins test. Generally they are good for 6 months to a year
depending upon the state.  This can be answered by your vet.  Coggins tests take
anywhere from 2 days to 7 days to get the results back from the lab.

(Q) Do you unload the animals at night ?

(A) Depends,  if animal is on a full trailer for 12 hours, or on trips over 750 miles than yes we do.

If trailer is not full, and there is plenty of room for animals to bed down, than no we don't

[ but fresh water, hay, and feed will be available to animals for the night.]

We try very hard to limit this situation as much as possible, for your animals / our safety & well being.
